Soccer betting tips for Italy – Switzerland

It’s time for another fixture from Group A of the Euro 2020 because Italy will face Switzerland at the Stadio Olimpico in the capital. Just as always, we are here to present you our excellent online soccer betting tips for this game. Are you ready?

Italy couldn’t have dreamed for a better start of the European Championship. The Azzurri proved to everyone how good they are right now with a dominant 3-0 performance over Turkey. There were no goals scored in the first half but after the break Roberto Mancini’s team put its foot on the gas pedal. Turkey’s Merih Demiral opened the score with an own goal while Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne finished the job with two more goals for Italy.

It’s not a secret that Italy are progressing since the moment Roberto Mancini was appointed at the job. The former Manchester City manager resurrected the national team after some difficult time and failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. It seems the Italian Football Association made the right decision when giving the national team to Mancini.

Against Turkey Italy used a classic 4-3-3 formation and it worked well. Juventus’ Chiellini and Bonucci formed their usual duo in the heart of the defense while Spinazzola and Florenzi played as fullbacks. In midfield Jorginho, Locatelli and Barella started the game while Insigne, Berardi and Immobile started in attack.

In the second half Roberto Mancini looked at his bench and gave playing time to players like Di Lorenzo, Cristante, Chiesa, Belotti and Bernardeschi.

PSG’s Marco Verratti was the big absentee for the Azzurri in their first game. The midfield maestro was recovering from his latest injury, but according to the medical staff he’s now almost ready to return on the pitch. This means that there’s a big chance to see him playing against Switzerland – even if it means entering the field from the bench.

In the absence of Verratti, it was the new Champions League winner Jorginho who had to organise Italy’s play in midfield. The 29-years old knows how to do this really well as he’s doing the same at Chelsea, too. Jorginho is an experienced and a very calm midfielder and he’s going to be very important for Italy during this tournament.

More or less it was a little bit surprising that Roberto Mancini started Juventus’ Federico Chiesa from the bench against Turkey. Chiesa was one of Juve’s best performers last season, so people expected to see him near Cimo Immobile in attack. Mancini chose Insigne and Berardi instead of him, though.

Italy’s defenders and the goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma almost didn’t have anything to do against Turkey, so now they must be extra careful not to lose their focus for the next game. This is something Mancini must pay special attention to – his players should be aware that Switzerland can be really dangerous upfront.

Switzerland won a point in their first game at the Euro, but it was not really their dream start. The Crusaders faced Wales and scored the opener, but the game ended with no winners – 1-1. The striker Breel Embolo scored the first goal in the game, but in the middle of the second half Kieffer Moore equalised for the British side.

Switzerland’s manager Vladimir Petkovic used a fluid 3-4-3 formation against Wales, so it’d be interesting to see if he’s going to make any changes against the Azzurri. Petkovic used Shaqiri, Seferovic and Embolo as his attacking trio, and we don’t see a reason why he would make any change here. In midfield Granit Xhaka and Remo Freuler had to play together while Mbabu and Rodriguez played on the two wings. Elvedi, Schar and Akanji started in defense in front of the goalkeeper Yann Sommer. We don’t think Petkovic was really the most happiest man on Earth after Switzerland’s performance against Wales, so maybe he would make at least one change in his line-up.

Who could Vladimir Petkovic pick from the bench? He has some interesting options indeed. Borussia M’gladbach’s midfielder Denis Zakaria is always an option for the midfield while Dinamo Zagreb’s striker Mario Gavranovic could help in attack. Steven Zuber, Eintracht Frankfurt’s 29-years old midfielder, could be used in the central area as well. Suber had a decent season with Eintracht in the Bundesliga, so we are sure he won’t be disappointing the fans if he enters the pitch.

We’d be honest with you with our prediction here – we’d be surprised if Italy doesn’t win for a second consecutive time in Group A. The Azzurri made an impressive performance against Turkey in their first game and they looked really sharp on the pitch. They didn’t score in the first half, but after the halftime break Roberto Mancini’s boys showed their true qualities. At the same time Switzerland were regarded favorites against Wales, but they disappointed their fans and only won a point against the Dragons.

The head coach Vladimir Petkovic would like to see more from his main playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri. Liverpool’s ace is one of the most important players in the Swiss squad because he’s usually functioning as a “number 10” in the team. His creativity and vision are crucial for the way Switzerland attacks because he’s the key player behind the two strikers. Shaqiri must raise his levels if the Crusaders want to reach the knockout phase of the tournament.

That’s the online soccer betting tips for the Euro 2020 game from the group stage between Italy and Switzerland. Surely the four-time world champions are favorites to take three points here. Roberto Mancini’s boys look to be in a sharp form at the moment which gives the fans high hopes for a quality performance in the competition. At the same time Switzerland are a decent team, but they didn’t show their best face against Wales in the first round of the group stage. Now for them it’d be much more difficult against a world class team like Italy. But this is football and everything is possible, so let’s see.
